Biography:

Dr. John Edward Shore was born in Westminster Twp (Middlesex County), Ontario on the 10th of February, 1858.  Dr. Shore was the 7th of 10 children born to Thomas Shore and the former Ellinor Webb.  His parents were farmers and his siblings were; Francis Richard Shore, Thomas Hardy Shore, William Murton Shore, Thomas L. Shore, Eliza Murton Shore, Elinor Shore, Harry Shore, Maurice Charles Shore and Arthur Shore.

Dr. Shore graduated M.B. in 1882 and at that time he also received a Fellowship at Trinity Medical School.   He joined the College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1882.

Dr. Shore set up a medical practice in Merlin, Ontario and advertised that practice in the 1885 Ontario Business Directory and Gazetteer.  By 1887, his medical practice was located on Wortley Road in London, Ontario and it was advertised in the Business Directory for Huron, Middlesex and Perth Counties.

Dr. Shore married Nettie Surpell King on the 5th of July, 1888 in Holt, Nebraska.  Mrs. Shore was born in December of 1868 in Chesterhill, Ohio.  She was the eldest of 3 children born to Joseph “Job” Jarrett King and the former Anne Eliza Gray.  Her father was a wagon maker and her siblings were; Clyde Nelson King and Raphael Towler King.

Dr. and Mrs. Shore had 4 children.  Their first two children, Arthur Verney Shore and Clyde Egbert Shore were born in Nebraska.  A son Vivian Shore and a daughter Ethwyn Shore were born in the State of Washington.  In the 1910 U.S. Census the Shore family was living in Leavenworth, Chelan, Washington where Dr. Shore was practicing medicine.

According to the 1915 U.S. Census, Dr. and Mrs. Shore were living in Lincklean, New York and he was farming with his sons, Clyde and Vivian.

Dr. Shore died on the 16th of November, 1917 in Lincklaen, New York.  He was buried at the Hillcrest Burial Park in Kent (King County), Washington, U.S.A.  According to the 1940 census, Mrs. Shore was living with her daughter in Port Angeles, Washington.  She died on the 13th of February, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington and was buried beside her husband at Hillcrest Burial Park.
