Biography:

Dr. Peter Brian Moorhead was born in Bradford, England on the 3rd of August, 1929.  Dr. Moorhead’s parents were Gustave Michael Moorhead and the former Nancy Casey.  Dr. Moorhead grew up in the suburbs of London (England) in Ealing with his sister Maureen. He attended St. Benedict’s Abbey School and took his pre-medical training at King’s College in London (England) from 1947 to 1950.

Dr. Moorhead took his clinical training at Westminster Hospital in London from 1950 to 1953.  He obtained the qualifications of M.R.C.S. and L.R.C.P.  Dr. Moorhead did his internship and thoracic surgical training also at Westminster Hospital in 1953 and 1954. Dr. Moorhead was appointed house surgeon to the Royal Surgeon Sir Clement Price-Thomas.

While at Westminster Hospital Dr. Moorhead met his first wife Mary “Elizabeth” Hollies Pooler.  She was born in England on the 13th of May, 1928.  She was the daughter of Dr. William Pooler and the former Johanna Campbell and she had 2 brothers, David and John.    Mrs. Moorhead graduated from the Westminster Hospital School of Nursing in 1952.

Dr. and Mrs. Moorhead immigrated to Canada in 1954.  He interned at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chatham in 1954 and later that year, Dr. Moorhead, started a medical practice in Blenheim.  Eventually Dr. Moorhead moved his family and his medical practice to Dresden.  He served as the President of the Kent County Medical Society in 1966.

Dr. Moorhead and his wife had 4 children, David, Janet, Pamela and Ian.

After many years of devoted service in Ontario, Dr. Moorhead moved to Roswell, New Mexico.

Dr. Moorhead died on September 15th, 2002.  He was survived by his 4 children and his wife, Nancy.  Dr. Moorhead was buried at Dresden (Ontario).

Mrs. Elizabeth Moorhead-Skipper died in Tweed, Ontario on the 3rd of January, 2019.  She was buried in Dresden.
