Biography:

Dr. Kwan “Robert” Shin Sin Yan Too was born on the Island of Mauritius on the 12th of October, 1938.  Dr. Sin Yan Too was the 3rd of 11 children born to France and Yuet Wan Sin Yan Too. When he was only 13 years old, his mother died and he vowed to become a doctor. He completed his primary and his secondary education in Mauritius. Dr. Sin Yan Too worked for a few years and saved money to go to school.

In 1961 he was accepted into medical school at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He graduated in 1967. He completed his residency at hospitals in Glasgow, Scotland, then he moved to London, England to do post-graduate work at St. Andrew’s Hospital. He obtained his M.R.C.P. in 1974.

Dr. Sin Yan Too, had met his wife Lisa, in 1968 while he was in Scotland. They were married in London, England in 1970. Mrs. Sin Yan Too was also born on the Island of Mauritius.

Dr. and Mrs. Sin Yan Too immigrated to Thompson, Manitoba in 1976. Dr. Sin Yan Too wrote his L.M.C.C. exams in Winnipeg to be able to practice medicine in Canada. The family settled in Wallaceburg in 1978 and made it their home. He had an extensive obstetrics practice, covered shifts in the emergency department at the hospital, provided care to patients in the hospital and in nursing homes and had a busy office located at 117 Murray Street.

Dr. and Mrs. Sin Yan Too, have two daughters, Lena who is a pharmacist and Natalie who is a physician and they have a precious grandson. In his spare time, Dr. Sin Yan Too enjoyed, reading, listening to classical music, dancing and travelling.

Dr. Sin Yan Too died on the 13th of January, 2012.  He was laid to rest at Highland Memorial Gardens in Willowdale, Ontario.
