Biography:

Dr. Harold David McCann was born in Dutton (Elgin County), Ontario on the 31st of August, 1919.  Dr. McCann was the 3rd of 4 children born to George Arthur McCann and the former Adeline Jane Meteer.   His parents were farmers and his siblings were; Charles Alfred McCann, Manson Richard McCann and Margaret McCann.

Dr. McCann was educated locally before graduating from the University of Western Ontario Medical School in 1945.  He interned at at the Ottawa Civic Hospital.

Dr. McCann assisted Dr. John Roy MacPherson in Duart between 1946 and 1947 before moving to Rodney (Elgin County).  Dr. McCann built a small office at the corner of Victoria and Jane Street.  He eventually built another office on Furnival Road.  Even after he moved to Rodney, Dr. McCann continued to see patients and travelled the relatively short distance to Chatham-Kent.

Dr. McCann married Yvonne Mae Duckworth on the 25th of September, 1948.  Mrs. McCann was born in St Thomas in 1923.  In 1945 prior to her marriage, Mrs. McCann was living at 143 Wortley Road in London and she was a school teacher.

Dr. and Mrs. McCann had 2 children and they resided in a home on Stinson Street in Rodney.

In 1950 Mrs. McCann and Mary Miller opened a ladies wear store in Rodney.  It was called the Mar-Von Shop.

Mrs. McCann died in London in 1987.  Dr. McCann died in 1997.  They are buried at the Fairview/Dutton Cemetery.
