Biography:

Dr. Emer (Giltinan) Dudley was born in Cork, Ireland on the 15th of May, 1952.  Dr. Dudley’s parents were Jack and Agatha (Collins) Giltinan.  Her father was an engineer and her mother was a family physician.  Dr. Dudley has a younger brother named David Giltinan, who resides in San Francisco.  Dr. Dudley attended school at Loreto Convent in Fermoy, Ireland from the age of 3 until she was 11.  She then attended Scoilna n Og, in Glanmire for 2 years, then the Dominican Convent, Wicklow.  From 1969 until 1975, she studied medicine at University College Cork.  Dr. Dudley interned for 1 year at Mercy Hospital in Cork, Ireland and she followed this up with a 3 year Family Practice Residency in Cork.

Dr. Dudley moved to Newfoundland in 1979 and was a travelling locum for 1 year, before she settled down in Botwood, Newfoundland for 3 years.  Dr. Dudley answered a newspaper ad, which brought her to Wallaceburg in July of 1983, where she set up a full service family practice.  She also worked at Sydenham District Hospital, admitting patients, delivering babies etc.

Dr. Dudley married her husband Dale Dudley on the 28th of June, 1986 in Tupperville.  Dr. Dudley has volunteered her time with Community Living for over 30 years, and she has served as the President in years past.  She has served 6 years with the District Health Council.  In 1992 she was President of Kent County Medical Society and she has served on the Ontario Medical Association Rural Medicine Executive for a number of years.

In her spare time, Dr. Dudley enjoys ball room dancing, boating and travelling all over the world.
