Biography:

Dr. Albert Werner Seighon was born in London, Ontario on the 10th of May, 1882.  Dr. Seighon was the 3rd of 5 children born to Isaac Thomas Seighon and the former Mary Werner.  At the time of his birth his father was a carpenter and the family resided at 524 Simcoe Street.  His siblings were George Seighon (who died at the age of 11 months), Mary Wilhelmina Seighon (who died at the age of 9 months), Mabel Louisa Seighon (who died of cholera at the age of 10 in 1891) and Florence Katherine Seighon.

Dr. Seighon’s education is not known, but he was practicing medicine in Kent Bridge, Ontario in 1902.  He joined the College of Physicians and Surgeons on the 27th of June, 1905.

Dr. Seighon married Anna Maria Shaw on the 24th of December, 1906 in Kent Bridge.  Mrs. Seighon was born in Kent Bridge on the 6th of November 1881.  She was the eldest of 3 children born to Charles Shaw and the former Elizabeth Ann Neely.  Her parents were farmers and her siblings were; Ida Minerva Shaw and Eva Maud Shaw.

Dr. Seighon completed a declaration to be a naturalized U.S. citizen on the 22 of June, 1917.  On that form, Dr. Seighon indicated that he immigrated to Ohio on the 24th of September, 1906, 3 months prior to his marriage to Anna Shaw.  On that form, he described himself as 5′ and 1.5″ tall, 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.  In 1917, his address was 2247 E. 73rd Street in Cleveland, Ohio.

Dr. and Mrs. Seighon had 3 children.  René Claire Seighon was born in Fostoria, Ohio on the 27th of April, 1910, Howard Vernon Seighon was born in Cleveland on the 10th of June, 1913 and Marilyn E. Seighon was born on the 31st of October, 1924 in Cuyahoga, Ohio.

On the 12th of September, 1918, Dr. Seighon enlisted in World War I.  At the time of his enlistment he listed his address as 2157 East 55th Street in Cleveland Ohio.  Further he stated that he was a physician in private practice.

According to the 1930 U.S. Census, the family had changed their last name to Sage.  This information has been confirmed with multiple sources, including a death record, that recorded the doctors parent’s names.  Also according to the 1930 census, “Dr. Sage”…..had a general medical practice in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.  Dr. Seighon was listed in the 1937 Cleveland Business Directory.  His medical practice was located at 7909 Euclid Ave and his residence was located at 2171 Edgewood Road.

In the January 4th, 1950 edition of the Marion Star (Marion, Ohio) an article appeared that Dr. Albert W. Sage of Kenton was taking on the physician duties at the Hardin County Home and Hospital.

Dr. Seighon died on the 7th of June, 1958 in Santa Clara, California.  Mrs. Seighon died on the 6th of August, 1978 in Santa Clara, California.  Dr. and Mrs. Seighon were buried at Los Gatos Memorial Park, (San José County) in California, U.S.A.

*Dr. Seighon’s children all enlisted in WWII, René Claire Sage and Howard Vernon Sage served with the United States Armed Forces and his daughter Marilyn Sage in the Cadet Nursing Corp.
