Biography:

Dr. Wu-Tsai (Vince) Kao was born on the 25th of September, 1923 in the Province of Hubei, China.  Dr. Kao was the youngest of 5 sons. Dr. Kao served in the Chinese Nationalist Army. He received his medical education in Taiwan through his service in the Army. He was required to practice medicine in China after receiving his medical education.

Dr. Kao seeking a life of freedom and choice, he fled to Taiwan in 1949. There he met his wife Chieh Chen (Linda), who was working for the Red Cross. They married in 1950.

In Taiwan, Dr. Kao practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. and Mrs. Kao had a son Shu-Kang (Shawn) Kao, born to them in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1960. Dr. Kao moved to Canada in 1965. Dr. Kao interned at Scarborough General Hospital. Dr. Kao transferred to Mercy Hospital in Detroit in 1966. It was here that Dr. Kao was joined by his wife and son. From Detroit, the family moved to Baltimore, Maryland then to St. John, New Brunswick, then to Blairmore, Alberta before finally settling in Blenheim, Ontario in 1972. Dr. Kao opened his family practice at 52 Catherine Street.

Dr. Kao phased into retirement from 2005 to 2006.

Dr. Kao died on the 8th of February, 2007 and he was buried in Toronto.

Dr. Kao was survived by his son Dr. Shawn Kao, a pediatrician in Toronto.
