Biography:

Dr. James Glen Miller was born in Scotland on the 16th of November, 1814.  Dr. Miller was the son of James Miller and the former Mary Banks.

Dr. Miller married Jean “Jane” McNish in Tarbolton, Ayr, Scotland on the 22nd of April, 1834.

Dr. and Mrs. Miller had 9 children; Isabelle Miller, Mary Banks Miller (who did not survive childhood), Charlotte Glen Miller, James Miller and Sophia Christina Hastings Miller were all born in Scotland.  Twins John Robert Walter Miller and Sarah Agnes Miller, Nicholas Miller and Ebenezer Miller were born in Xenia, Ohio and their son George Murray Miller was born in Ontario.

Between 1848 and 1850, Dr. Miller and his family immigrated to Xenia, Ohio.  According to the 1850 census, Mr. Miller was a teacher in Xenia. According to the 1861 census the Miller family was living in Tilbury, Ontario and Dr. Miller’s occupation was listed as a doctor.  The source of Dr. Miller’s education is unknown.

Mrs. Miller died in 1861 in Tilbury,  Dr. Miller died on the 8th of April, 1865 in Tilbury, Ontario.

*Dr. Miller’s daughter Isabelle Miller married Dr. Sibree Clarke who also appears on the Chatham-Kent Physician Tribute website.

*In 1871, Dr. Miller’s son Ebenezer Miller lived in Dresden with his sister and her husband (Dr. and Mrs. Sibree Clarke) and he worked as a “druggist” .
