Biography:

Dr. Thomas Chalmers Brown was born in Verdun, Quebec on the 5th of June, 1942.  Dr. Brown is the son of Thomas Chalmers Brown and the former Edith Howells.  Dr. Brown and his sister Linda were raised in Verdun, a suburb of Montreal.  He attended Crawford Park Public School and Verdun High School.  After graduating from high school, Dr. Brown entered McGill University at the tender age of 17.  He graduated with his B.A. in 1963.  He went on to McGill Medical School from 1963 until he graduated in 1967 with an M.D.C.M.  Dr. Brown interned at Montreal General Hospital for 1 year, then studied Internal Medicine for another 2 years.

Dr. Brown married Alice Logie on the 26th of June, 1965, in Verdun.  Mrs. Brown is the daughter of Ronald and Elsie (Evans) and she was also raised in Verdun where they both attended the same high school from 1955 to 1959.  They have two children, a daughter Tracy, born in 1967 and a son Michael born in 1970.

Dr. Brown moved his family to Toronto in June 1970, so that he could attend the University of Toronto.  From 1970 until 1973, Dr. Brown did his residency in radiology at Sunnybrooke Hospital.

On the 4th of July, 1973, Dr. Brown started working at the Public General Hospital in Chatham, Ontario.  In 1974, he achieved his Fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (F.R.C.P.) and in 1977 he became Chief of Radiology.  He held that position into the 1990’s.  In 1985, Dr. Brown was the President of the Chatham Medical Staff for the Ontario Medical Association (Section 1) which covered Windsor, Chatham and Sarnia.

Dr. Brown left the Public General Hospital at the end of March, 2000 and did locums at different hospitals until January 2001, when he started working at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre (P.R.H.C.).  He worked there until he retired in April 2015 and is currently working part-time at the local clinics in Peterborough.

In their spare time, Dr. and Mrs. Brown enjoy vacations at their cottage with their daughter Tracy and her husband, Ian, who live in New Hartford, NY with their 2 daughters, Emma and Allison and their son, Michael and his wife, Megan, who live in Oakville with their son, Benjamin, and their daughter, Sarah.  Their other interests are photography, travelling and reading and enjoying time with their grandchildren.
