Dr. John Edward Shore was born on the 10th of February, 1858 in Westminster Township, Middlesex County.  He was the 6th of 9 children born to Thomas Shore and the former Ellinor Webb.  His siblings included Francis Richard, Thomas Hardy, William Murton, Eliza Murton, Elinor, Harry, Maurice Charles and Arthur.  Dr. Shore received his medical education at The University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine and graduated M.B. in 1882.  He also had a Fellowship at Trinity Medical School in Toronto in 1882 and he became a member of the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons the same year.

Dr. Shore set up a medical practice in Merlin, Ontario.  He advertised in the 1885 Ontario Business Directory and Gazetteer, where it states that his medical practice was located in Merlin.  By 1887, his medical practice was located on Wortley Road, in London, Ontario and it was advertised in the Business Directory for Huron, Middlesex and Perth Counties.

Dr. Shore married Nettie S. King on the 5th of July, 1888 in Holt, Nebraska.  She was born in December of 1868 in Ohio, the eldest child of Joseph “Job” King and the former Annie Grey.  She had 2 younger brothers, Clyde and Raphael.

Dr. and Mrs. Shore had 4 children.  There first two children, Arthur Verney and Clyde Egbert were born in Nebraska.  A son Vivian and a daughter Ethwyn were born in the State of Washington.  In the 1910 U.S. Census the Shore family was living in Leavenworth, Chelan, Washington where Dr. Shore was practicing medicine.

In the 1915 U.S. Census, Dr. and Mrs. Shore were living in Lincklean, New York and he was farming with his sons, Clyde and Vivian.

Dr. Shore died on the 16th of November, 1917 in Lincklean, New York.  He was buried at the Hillcrest Burial Park, in Kent, King County, Washington, U.S.A.  Mrs. Shore died on the 13th of February, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington and she was buried beside her husband.
