Biography:

Dr. Antony Ralling was born in Edmonton (a Borough of London, England) on the 29th of March, 1926.  Dr. Ralling was the youngest of 2 children born to Victor Ralling and the former Daisy Winnifred Fetch.  On the 21st of April, 1939 Dr. Ralling and his family boarded the Queen Mary in Southampton, England and they immigrated to the United States.  On the manifest, Victor Ralling’s occupation was listed as financier.  According to the 1940 U.S. Census, the Ralling family was living in Sonoma County, California.  His parents were listed as poultry farmers involved with the production of eggs.  His sister’s name was Yvonne Ralling.

His father was drafted into the United States Army on the 16th of February, 1942.

In 1944, Dr. Ralling attended Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Ralling was drafted on the 30th of March, 1944 but despite this, he graduated with a B.A. in 1944.  After his service with the army, Dr. Ralling studied medicine at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec obtaining the degree of M.D.,C.M. in 1948. He interned from 1948-1949 at Montreal General Hospital.  Dr. Ralling became a Senior Surgical Intern at Montreal General Hospital and Children’s Hospital from 1949-1950.

Dr. Ralling married Vera Mary Christine Maile in Montreal on the 10th of July, 1950.  Mrs. Ralling was born in Hendon (a Borough of London, England) on the 2nd of March, 1922.   She was the 2nd of 4 children born to John William Kingsley Maile and the former Vera Christine Hancock. Her siblings were; George Basil Maile, David Grenville Maile and Beryl Christine Maile.  According to the 1946 United Kingdom & Ireland Nursing Register, Mrs. Ralling became a registered nurse on the 26th of November, 1943 in London, England.  Mrs. Ralling was working as a nurse in Montreal, Quebec according to the 1946 register.

Dr. and Mrs. Ralling had 3 children; Valerie Ann Ralling, Geoffrey Colin Kingsley Ralling and Denis Keith Ralling.

Dr. Ralling was made a fellow in surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from 1950-1953.  Dr. Ralling appears in the 1952 Rochester City Directory.  His residence was listed as 718 5th Street, Apt #4.  His wife Vera Ralling was listed as working as a nurse at Worrall Hospital.   Dr. Ralling continued his studies at the University of Minnesota and he obtained his F.R.C.S. (C.) in 1953.

Dr. Ralling had a general medical practice in Prince Rupert, British Columbia from 1954-1956.

Dr. and Mrs. Ralling moved to Wallaceburg, Ontario in 1956.  Dr. Ralling limited his practice to surgery, once he was in Wallaceburg.  The Ralling family resided at 313 Margaret Avenue.  Mrs. Ralling served as Regent for the Harriet Newkirk I.O.D.E. in 1967 and again in 1975.

Dr. Ralling moved to Pontotoc, Mississippi in January of 1979.

Dr. and Mrs. Ralling divorced and Dr. Ralling married Diedri Gael Phillips in Eastport, Maine on the 16th of September, 1987.  Mrs. Diedri Ralling was born in 1946, the daughter of Thomas Edward Phillips and the former Mary Elizabeth Perrine.  She had a brother named Frederick Phillips.  Mrs. Ralling was a graduate of the American School in Lugano, Switzerland and from Columbia University in New York City.  She was the director of children’s therapy for the department of rehabilitation medicine of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre in New York.

By 1988, Dr. Ralling was living in Palm City, Florida.    He enjoyed playing golf and bridge, sailing and fishing.

Mrs. Vera Ralling died in Guelph on the 28th of March 1990.

Mrs. Diedri Gael (Phillips) Ralling died in 2008.  She was buried in the Phillips family plot at Brainerd Cemetery in Cranbury, New Jersey.

Dr. Ralling died in Florida in August of 2016.
