Biography:

Dr. Alexander “Sandy” Hamilton Macgregor was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England on the 8th of October, 1929.  His parents were Alexander Edward Macgregor and the former Catherine Watson Ballard.  Dr. Macgregor graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 1951.

Dr. Macgregor married Audrey Lilian Astbury in 1951.  Mrs. Macgregor was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England on the 7th of June, 1928.  Her parents were George Thomas Astbury and the former Lilian Proudlove.  Her father was a printer/lithographer and she had an older brother named Stanley George Astbury.  In 1955, Dr. and Mrs. Macgregor lived at 84 Green Lane in Liverpool, England with his mother.  Dr. and Mrs. Macgregor had a daughter named Alison, born prior to their divorce and Dr. Macgregor’s immigration to Toledo, Ohio.  (Mrs. Macgregor died in 1987).

Dr. Macgregor married Ila Faye St John on the 12th of July, 1958.  Mrs. Macgregor was born in Williams Centre, Ohio on the 6th of May, 1934.  She was the eldest of 5 children born to Lowell Lavon St John and the former Velma Fern Sponseller.  Mrs. Macgregor’s parents worked at a furniture factory in Williams Center, Ohio.  Her siblings were; Russell Lowell St. John, Nola May St. John, Lila St. John and Robert Lee St John.  Mrs. Macgregor graduated from the Flower Hospital School of Nursing in 1955.  When she attended the nursing school it was located in Toledo, Ohio.  (Today the ProMedica Flower Hospital is located in Sylvania, Ohio).  Mrs. Macgregor was President of her class in her senior year.

In the mid-1960’s, Dr. and Mrs. Macgregor were living in Chatham.  Dr. Macgregor’s name appears in the 1963 Vernon’s City of Chatham Business Directory.  Their home and his medical office were located at 11 Third Street.

Dr. and Mrs. Macgregor had 3 children; Iain, Megan and Kirsten.  Mrs. Macgregor enjoyed working in her garden and sewing.

Dr. and Mrs. Macgregor divorced in June of 1981.

In 1984, Dr. Macgregor was living in Man, West Virginia.  By 1993, Dr. Macgregor had moved his home and his medical practice to Toledo, Ohio.

On the 30th of March, 2004, Dr. Macgregor re-married his second wife Ila Faye (St John) Macgregor in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mrs. Macgregor died on the 5th of April, 2015 in Kodak, Tennessee.  Dr. Macgregor died on the 27th of August, 2015 in Kodak, Tennessee.
