Biography:

Dr. Aidan Malachy Brady was born in Dublin, Ireland on the 16th of October, 1939.  Dr. Brady was the 6th of 9 children born to William and Mary (McAllister) Brady. His early education was provided at Sion Hill Convent School, Willow Park School then Blackrock College until he was 18 years old.  Dr. Brady played rugby with Blackrock College RFC where he won the Metropolitan (Seconds) and Senior Cup medals in 1960/61.

Dr. Brady attended the University College of Dublin (U.C.D.) first in Pre-Med, then the Medicine Program.  While at U.C.D. he joined the rugby team which won Senior Cup medals in 1962/63 and 1963/64 and he was elected as the U.C.D. Club captain for the 1964/65 season.  Dr. Brady obtained his M.D. from U.C.C. and completed his internship at Newtownards Hospital in 1968.

While studying at U.C.D., he met his wife Pat (O’Grady) Brady. Mrs. Brady was studying languages also at U.C.D. They were married September 4th, 1968 in Dublin, Ireland.

Dr. and Mrs. Brady immigrated to Canada in September of 1968. Dr. Brady worked in internal medicine at St. Mike’s Hospital in Toronto. In 1969, Dr. and Mrs. Brady moved to Capreol, Ontario where Dr. Brady worked with Dr. Don McGowan in a family medicine practice. Mrs. Brady taught school in Capreol and their first child Mark was born there.

On the 4th of June, 1971, the Brady family moved back to Dublin, Ireland, while Dr. Brady completed a post-graduate program in general practice medicine.

In late 1972, Dr. Brady and his family moved back to Canada, to Invermere, B.C. They stayed only a few months before moving to Tilbury in February of 1973. They stayed in Tilbury for 7 years. Dr. Brady was part of a group practice in family medicine and he was designated as a coroner.

The Brady family moved back to Dublin, Ireland in 1980, but moved to Chatham, Ontario in late 1983. Dr Brady established his own medical practice at 555 Richmond Street.  Dr. Brady moved to 20 Emma St., in Chatham in 1990 and then to 791 St. Clair St., where he stayed until his retirement in December of 2006. Dr. Brady had a busy medical practice and he delivered hundreds of babies over the years.

Dr. and Mrs. Brady had 5 children of their own. Mark Brady is an client executive with the German I.T. company SAP and lives in Etobicoke. Ciara Brady is a lawyer and lives in Bermuda. Aran Brady is an accountant and lives in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Declan Brady is a V.P. with Bell Canada and resides in Montreal. Sinead Brady is studying neuro-science at Oxford University in England and will start her medical studies in September 2013.

Dr. Brady was President of the Kent County Medical Society from 2001-2002.

Dr. and Mrs. Brady enjoyed playing golf, reading, cycling, swimming and spending time with their children and 12 grandchildren.

Dr. Brady died on the 16th of April, 2019 in Killiney, Ireland.  He was buried at the Shanganagh Cemetery.
